Hockanum River Parks in Vernon
Hockanum River Linear Park
The Committee is appointed by the Mayor with approval of the Town Council.
The purpose of the Committee is to guide and implement the development of the
Hockanum River Parks, in accordance with the Master Plan of Development
for the Park that was prepared in 1990 by the landscape architectural firm of
Johnson & Richter.
The Committee has been ongoing since 1970. In 1988 the Town received a
$1.01 million grant to initiate work on the river park. Funds were used
for acquisition of land, creation of the HRLP Master Plan of Development, and
construction of Dart Hill Park.
The Committee works closely with Bruce Dinnie, Director of Parks and
Recreation. Meetings are held every other month. Volunteers are
needed! If you like to be outdoors doing trail work - or indoors doing
paperwork, your time and talents would be most welcome!
Committee members are:
Ann Letendre, Chairperson
George Arthur
Don Bellingham
Ed Dresner
Ginny Gingras
Andy McKenzie
Betty Tedford
